HARRY HUGHES, Governor                                         1679 (ii) Crew or racing shells. (2) This section does not prohibit the use of a
combination of vehicles to carry an indivisible load [that] IF
THE LOAD is not over 70 feet long. (c)  Except as otherwise provided in this section: (1) A single unit truck may not be over 40 feet long; (2) A publicly owned rigid bus may not be over 41
feet long; (3) A publicly owned articulated three-axle bus may
not be over [56] 60 feet long[; and (4) Any other vehicle or combination of vehicles may
not be over 55 feet long. (d)   If it is hauling, or is traveling empty or with poultry
cages to or from hauling, live poultry anywhere within the
counties of Caroline, Cecil, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne's,
Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico, and Worcester, a truck tractor and
semitrailer combination with a combined length of not more than
60 feet may be used. (e)   If it is carrying motor vehicles, a tractor and
semitrailer combination with a combined length of not more than
55 feet, exclusive of the overhang of the transported vehicles,
may be used. (f) (1) A combination of a truck tractor, semitrailer, and
trailer with a combined length of not more than 65 feet may be
driven on a highway with four or more lanes or while going by the
shortest route between such a highway and a truck terminal of
origin or destination. (2) In this kind of combination of vehicles, a
semitrailer equipped with an auxiliary doily is considered to be
a trailer]. (D) WHEN A SEMITRAILER AND A TRAILER (DOUBLE) ARE BEING
OPERATED IN COMBINATION WITH A TRUCK TRACTOR, THE COMBINATION OF
VEHICLES SHALL NOT BE SUBJECT TO AN OVERALL LENGTH LIMITATION.
THIS COMBINATION MAY ONLY BE OPERATED ON ANY PART OF THE
INTERSTATE SYSTEM OR OTHER STATE SYSTEM HIGHWAYS THAT ARE
DESIGNATED BY THE SECRETARY IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE U.S.
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, OR ON A HIGHWAY THAT IS THE
SHORTEST PRACTICAL ROUTE BETWEEN A DESIGNATED HIGHWAY AND A TRUCK
TERMINAL, OR POINT OF ORIGIN/DESTINATION FOR CARGO, OR FACILITIES
FOR FOOD, FUEL, REPAIRS, OR REST. A SEMITRAILER OR TRAILER BEING
OPERATED IN THIS COMBINATION MAY NOT EXCEED 28 FEET IN LENGTH FOR
EACH UNIT.
