Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico, and Worcester, a truck tractor and
semitrailer combination with a combined length of not more than
60 feet may be used. (e) If it is carrying motor vehicles, a tractor and
semitrailer combination with a combined length of not more than
55 feet, exclusive of the overhang of the transported vehicles,
may be used. (f) (1) A combination of a truck tractor, semitrailer, and
trailer with a combined length of not more than 65 feet may be
driven on a highway with four or more lanes or while going by the
shortest route between such a highway and a truck terminal of
origin or destination. (2)] (3) In this kind of combination of vehicles, a
semitrailer equipped with an auxiliary dolly is considered to be
a trailer. 11-172. "Truck tractor" means [a motor vehicle that: (1) Is designed and used primarily for towing other
vehicles; and (2) Is not constructed to carry any load other than a
part of the weight of the vehicle and load being towed] THE
NONCARGO CARRYING POWER UNIT THAT OPERATES IN COMBINATION WITH A
SEMITRAILER OR TRAILER, EXCEPT THAT A TRUCK TRACTOR AND
SEMITRAILER ENGAGED IN THE TRANSPORTATION OF AUTOMOBILES MAY
TRANSPORT MOTOR VEHICLES ON PART OF THE POWER UNIT. 24-102. (a)   For purposes of this section, the width of a vehicle
includes any load that it carries and [excludes any approved
safety equipment] SHALL BE EXCLUSIVE OF SAFETY AND ENERGY
CONSERVATION DEVICES, SUCH AS SIDE MIRRORS, TURN SIGNAL LAMPS,
MARKER LAMPS, STEPS AND HANDHOLDS FOR ENTRY AND EGRESS, FLEXIBLE
FENDER EXTENSIONS, MUDFLAPS AND SPRAY SUPPRESSANT DEVICES, AND
LOAD INDUCED TIRE BULGES; PROVIDING THE EQUIPMENT OR DEVICE,
OTHER THAN MIRRORS, DOES NOT EXTEND MORE THAN 3 INCHES ON EACH
SIDE OF THE VEHICLE BEYOND THE STATUTORY WIDTH LIMITATION. (b) This section does not apply to any: (1) Farm equipment; (2) Vehicle transporting farm equipment; or (3) Vehicle carrying a load of forage crops in
connection with harvesting operations, if the distance traveled
with the load on the highways in this State is less than 5 miles.
