LAWS OF MARYLAND
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1983. Approved May 31, 1983.
CHAPTER 529 (Senate Bill 388) AN ACT concerning Baltimore City - Miscellaneous Licenses - Fees FOR the purpose of increasing the fees charged for certain
licenses in Baltimore City, issued by clerks of court, that
are required of certain hawkers and peddlers and of persons
or other entities who keep billiard and pool tables, who
open, establish, operate, or maintain certain retail
establishments, who sell cigarettes at retail, keep a garage
for the hire, storage, or sale of automobiles, who operate
soda fountains, conduct the business of cleaning, dyeing,
pressing, or laundry, operate or conduct a restaurant or
eating place, operate or conduct the business of a plumber
or gas fitter, and who do not hold a trader's license or
accept orders or contracts for doing certain construction
work; and providing for a certain license and fee for hiring
a garage for certain purposes in Baltimore City. BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments, Article 56 - Licenses Section 14, 23, 57, 64, 160(a), 174, 177, 178, 179, and 180(a)
Annotated Code of Maryland (1979 Replacement Volume and 1982 Supplement) SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: Article 56 - Licenses 14. (A) A license may be granted to any person who may apply
for permission to keep a billiard table or tables, for which
license there shall be paid the sum , EXCEPT IN BALTIMORE CITY,
of [ten dollars] $40 for each table; and the words billiard
tables shall be construed to include pool tables; and provided
further, that any person who shall keep a pool or billiard table
