in the presence of female officers assigned for this purpose.
The courts of this State, instead of imposing sentence of fixed
duration upon female offenders, may sentence them to the Maryland
Correctional Institution for Women -- Jessup for an indeterminate
period of time which may not exceed the maximum term of
imprisonment provided by the statute for the offense of which
said person was convicted and in the event no penalty is provided
by statute for said offense then the court shall prescribe the
maximum term of imprisonment; but nothing in this subsection
relating to the imposition of an indeterminate sentence applies
to any case in which the sentence imposed is life imprisonment. (f) The Maryland Correctional Camp Center located at Jessup. In connection with this Center, the Department of Correction is authorized to operate correctional camps as
established from time to time elsewhere in the State. (G) THE PRE-RELEASE UNIT FOR WOMEN-ESTABLISHED UNDER § 678C
OF THIS ARTICLE. [(g)] (H) Such receiving and classification center or
centers as may be established by the Department either at one of
the institutions enumerated in this section or elsewhere. [(h)] (I) Any community correction center as established
and maintained under the provisions as set forth in § 706 of this
article. 710C. (a) A person may be placed in a center if the person: (1)   Is considered a resident of the county in which
the center is located, or if a regional center, one of the
counties comprising the region; (2)  Has less than 6 months remaining on the sentence
or less than 6 months prior to a determined parole date, or has a
sentence of 3 years or less; and (3)  He has been screened by a center staff member and
after review of the screening data, the center director approves
the transfer based upon screening standards agreed to by the
community advisory board, the center director and the
Commissioner. The screening standards shall include a
presentence investigation report if available and a complete
record of previous convictions. [(b) The condition for placement established by subsection
(a)(1) of this section does not apply to persons placed in
centers for women located in Baltimore City.] [(c)] (B) The center director may revoke a person's
participation in the center if the person violates the terms or
conditions of the center, established by the center director with
the advice of the community advisory board.
