SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 31 - Debt - Public
14.
Any authorized officer, after filing with the Secretary of
State his manual signature certified by him under oath, may
execute or cause to be executed with a facsimile signature in
lieu of his manual signature:
(a) Any public security, provided that at least one
signature required or permitted to be placed thereon shall be
manually subscribed, and
(b) [Any instrument of payment.] IF A PUBLIC SECURITY IS
REQUIRED TO BE MANUALLY SIGNED BY A TRUSTEE, ISSUING AGENT,
FISCAL AGENT, REGISTRAR, OR OTHER AGENT OR CUSTODIAN, ANY OTHER
SIGNATURE REQUIRED OR PERMITTED TO BE PLACED ON THE PUBLIC
SECURITY MAY BE EXECUTED BY FACSIMILE.
(b) Any instrument of payment.
IF A PUBLIC SECURITY IS REQUIRED TO BE MANUALLY SIGNED BY A
TRUSTEE, ISSUING AGENT, FISCAL AGENT, REGISTRAR, OR OTHER AGENT
OR CUSTODIAN, ANY OTHER SIGNATURE REQUIRED OR PERMITTED TO BE
PLACED ON THE PUBLIC SECURITY MAY BE EXECUTED BY FACSIMILE.
Upon compliance with this subtitle by the authorized
officer, his facsimile signature has the same legal effect as his
manual signature.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1983.
