"Permit" § 17-201 "Secretary" § 1-101

17-209. SCOPE OF PERMIT.

WHILE IT IS EFFECTIVE, A PERMIT AUTHORIZES THE PERMIT
HOLDER:

(1)  TO OPERATE OR TO REPRESENT OR SERVICE THE
MEDICAL LABORATORY NAMED IN THE PERMIT; AND

(2)  TO OFFER THE CLASSES OF SERVICES SET FORTH
IN THE PERMIT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Item (1) of this section is a standard
provision added for clarity.

Item (2) of this section is new language added to
conform to Department practice and to reflect
that the offer of other services exceeds the
scope of the permit. See § 17-213(b) of this
subtitle.

17-210. TERM AND RENEWAL OF PERMIT.

(A)  TERM OF PERMIT.

A PERMIT EXPIRES ON THE FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF ITS
EFFECTIVE DATE, UNLESS THE PERMIT IS RENEWED FOR A 1-YEAR
TERM AS PROVIDED IN THIS SECTION.

(B)  RENEWAL NOTICE.

AT LEAST 1 MONTH BEFORE THE PERMIT EXPIRES, THE
DEPARTMENT SHALL SEND TO THE PERMIT HOLDER, BY FIRST CLASS
MAIL TO THE LAST KNOWN ADDRESS OF THE HOLDER, A RENEWAL
NOTICE THAT STATES:

(1)  THE DATE ON WHICH THE CURRENT PERMIT
EXPIRES;

(2)  THE DATE BY WHICH THE RENEWAL APPLICATION
MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE SECRETARY FOR THE RENEWAL TO BE
ISSUED AND MAILED BEFORE THE PERMIT EXPIRES; AND

(3)  THE AMOUNT OF THE RENEWAL FEE.

(C)  APPLICATIONS FOR RENEWAL.

BEFORE THE PERMIT EXPIRES, THE PERMIT HOLDER
PERIODICALLY MAY RENEW IT FOR AM ADDITIONAL 1-YEAR TERM, IF
THE PERMIT HOLDER:
