LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 21

SERVE UNTIL A SUCCESSOR IS APPOINTED AND QUALIFIES.

(4)  A MEMBER WHO IS APPOINTED AFTER A TERM HAS
BEGUN SERVES ONLY FOR THE REST OF THE TERM AND UNTIL A
SUCCESSOR IS APPOINTED AND QUALIFIES.

(5)  A MEMBER WHO SERVES 2 CONSECUTIVE FULL
4-YEAR TERMS MAY NOT BE REAPPOINTED FOR 4 YEARS AFTER
COMPLETION OF THOSE TERMS.

(6)   IF A VACANCY OCCURS, THE GOVERNOR PROMPTLY
SHALL APPOINT A SUCCESSOR.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Article
43, § 782(c), (d), and all of the first sentence,
except the parenthetical phrase in that sentence,
and the entire second through fourth sentences of
(b).

Subsection (a)(2)(iii) and (iv) of this section
is revised to provide for the appointment of 1
individual at the discretion of the Governor and
for the appointment of 5 individuals from lists
submitted by the nominating entities. This
revision is necessary because a nominating entity
specified in the former law -- i.e., the Regional
Medical Programs of Maryland -- no longer exists.
This revision does not effect a substantive
change since, under subsection (a)(3)(iv) of this
section, the Governor appoints an individual
without a list, if the Governor does not receive
a list from a nominating entity.

In subsection (a)(3)(i)2. of this section,
reference to the "State Health Planning and
Development Agency" is substituted for the
obsolete reference to the "Comprehensive Health
Planning Agency of Maryland".

In subsection (a)(3)(i)3. and 4. of this section,
references to "the faculty of the University of
Maryland School of Medicine" and "the faculty of
the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine"
are substituted for "the medical faculty of the
University of Maryland" and "the medical faculty
of the Johns Hopkins University", for clarity and
conformity to practice.

In subsection (b)(2) of this section, reference
to terms of the members serving on July 1, 1982
is substituted for the obsolete reference to the
terms of the initial members.

Subsection (b)(5) of this section is revised in
