LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 21

"PROGRAM" MEANS THE PROGRAM THAT THE SECRETARY
ESTABLISHES TO PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE OUTPATIENT MENTAL
HYGIENE CARE AND TREATMENT FOR HEARING IMPAIRED INDIVIDUALS
WITH A MENTAL DISORDER AND THE FAMILIES OF THOSE
INDIVIDUALS.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section formerly appeared as
Article 59, § 70.

Subsection (c) of this section is revised to
clarify that the program is for individuals with
a "mental disorder", rather than only a hearing
impairment.

In subsection (c) of this section, the word
"program" is substituted for "program facility",
as the defined term, for clarity.

Also in subsection (c) of this section, the
former reference to the location of the program
is deleted as unnecessary in light of § 10-909 of
this subtitle.

The only other changes are in style.

Defined terms: "Mental disorder" § 10-101
"Secretary" § 1-101 "Treatment" § 10-101

10-909. PROGRAM REQUIRED.

(A)  IN GENERAL.

THE SECRETARY SHALL ESTABLISH AND EQUIP A PROGRAM TO
PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE OUTPATIENT MENTAL HYGIENE CARE AND
TREATMENT FOR HEARING IMPAIRED INDIVIDUALS WITH A MENTAL
DISORDER AND THE FAMILIES OF THOSE INDIVIDUALS.

(B)  LOCATION.

THE PROGRAM SHALL BE LOCATED IN A FACILITY IN THE
BALTIMORE-WASHINGTON CORRIDOR, BECAUSE OF THE NUMBER OF
HEARING IMPAIRED INDIVIDUALS WHO LIVE IN THAT AREA.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section formerly appeared as
Article 59, § 71(a) and (b).

In subsection (b) of this section, the former
reference to a "private or existing State"
facility is deleted as unnecessary in light of
the use of the defined term "facility".

The only other changes are in style.

Defined terms: "Facility" § 10-101
"Hearing impaired individual" § 10-908
