PETITION FOR REFERENDUM AMENDING
HAGERSTOWN, CITY CHARTER

To: Mayor and Council of Hagerstown, Washington County,
Maryland

1. We, the undersigned citizens and qualified voters
of Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland, constituting not
less than twenty per cent of those persons qualified to vote
in municipal general elections in the City of Hagerstown,
Washington County, Maryland, present this Petition for a
Referendum amending the Charter of the city of Hagerstown,
Maryland in accordance with the Constitution of the State of
Maryland; Article 23A, Annotated Code of Maryland; and the
Charter of the city of Hagerstown.

The purpose of this petition for Referendum Amending
the charter of the city of Hagerstown is to enable the
qualified voters of Hagerstown to elect councilmen in the
same manner as the mayor.

We respectfully request that the following proposed
amendment to the said charter be submitted to a vote of the
voters of the city of Hagerstown at a special election. The
proposed amendment to the charter of the city of Hagerstown
reads as follows:

[Article 2, § 13-14 of the Charter of the City of
Hagerstown, Washington County, repealed and reenacted, with
amendments.
