the Uniform Crime Reporting Index and
other statistical and demographic
tools to make recommendations, based
on these data, regarding availability
of medical assistance, including
evidence gathering procedures, and
victim assistance programs in the
various areas of the State;
(e) Develop and approve guidelines
to be used for the dispersal of
public funds for rape crisis or
sexual assault centers and similar
entities which provide services and
assistance to the victims of rape and
sexual offenses;
(f) Assist State and local
government and private agencies and
organizations in the establishment
and maintenance of these programs and
services;
(g) Recommend preventive and
educational programs relating to rape
and sexual offenses;
(h) Review and analyze offender
programs existing in other states to
determine the feasibility of similar
programs in the State of Maryland;
and
(i) Promote public awareness,
education and understanding of the
problems of rape and sexual offenses.
5. The Board may make such interim
recommendations as it deems necessary and
shall submit a written report of its
findings and recommendations to both the
Governor and General Assembly by January 1,
1984.
