HARRY HUGHES, Governor

5273

State House

Annapolis, Maryland 21404

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 740.

This bill prescribes cases in which attorney's fees,
recoverable by law or contract, are not to be included when
determining the exclusive original civil jurisdiction of the
District Court.

Senate Bill 322, which was passed by the General
Assembly and signed by me on June 1, 1982, accomplishes the
same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign
House Bill 740.

Sincerely,
Harry Hughes
Governor

House Bill No. 743

AN ACT concerning

Circuit Court Judges

FOR the purpose of increasing the number of circuit court
judges in Prince George's County.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings

Section l-503(a)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1980 Replacement Volume and 1981 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
read(s) as follows:
