House Bill No. 653

AN ACT concerning

City of Baltimore - General Powers

FOR the purpose of altering the maximum fine which may be
provided for the violation of any ordinance, rule or
regulation established by Baltimore City.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article II - General Powers
Section (48)

Charter of Baltimore City
(1964 Revision, as amended)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Charter of Baltimore City,
being a part of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
read(s) as follows:

Article II - General Powers

(48)

To provide penalties for the violation of any
ordinance, rule or regulations established by the City under
or in the execution of any power granted by this Article II;
provided that no fine shall exceed [$500.00] $1,000 and no
imprisonment shall be for a longer period than 12 months.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1982.

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 653.

This bill alters the maximum fine which may be imposed
for violation of any ordinance, rule or regulation
established by Baltimore City from an amount not exceeding
$500 to an amount not exceeding $1,000.
