AN ACT concerning

Vehicle Laws - Pedestrian Rights-of-Way -
Crosswalks

FOR the purpose of requiring the driver of a vehicle to come
to a stop for a pedestrian under certain circumstances;
clarifying the definition of "crosswalk"; and
clarifying language.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article - Transportation
Section 21-101(f) and 21-502(a)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1977 Volume and 1981 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
read(s) as follows:

Article - Transportation

21-101.

(f) "Crosswalk" means:

(1)  Any marked crosswalk, as defined in this
section; or

(2)  That part of a roadway that is within the
prolongation or connection of the lateral lines of sidewalks
at [intersections] ANY PLACE WHERE 2 OR MORE ROADWAYS OF ANY
TYPE MEET OR JOIN, measured from the curbs or, in the
absence of curbs, from the edges of the roadway.

21-502.

(a) (1) This subsection does not apply where [a]:
