VETOES

President of the Senate

State House

Annapolis, Maryland 21404

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 709.

This bill provides that dog licenses in Anne Arundel
County will expire when rabies vaccination certificates
expire and that dog tags issued concurrently with the issue
of dog licenses are exempt from the requirement that they
change shape annually, and provides instead that they be
impressed with the expiration date.

House Bill 630, which was passed by the General
Assembly and signed by me on June 1, 1982, accomplishes the
same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign
Senate Bill 709.

Sincerely,
Harry Hughes
Governor

Senate Bill No. 770

AN ACT concerning

Workmen's Compensation - County Boards of
Education - Group Self-Insurance

FOR the purpose of providing that groups of county boards a
county board of education are may be included in a
program of group self-insurers under the Workmen's
Compensation Law; and clarifying language pursuant to
approval by the county government of that county.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments, adding

Article 101 - Workmen's Compensation

Section 16(3)(a)(vii)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1979 Replacement Volume and 1981 Supplement)

(As enacted by Chapter 666 of the Acts

of the General Assembly of 1981)
