SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1982.

AN ACT concerning

CHAPTER 790
(Senate Bill 194)

Guardian of the Person

FOR the purpose of requiring that each guardian submit an
annual report to the court; requiring a law enforcement
officer to transport a person to a health care facility
in certain emergencies; providing that a court hear a
petition for the appointment of a guardian within 60
days; providing for a procedure for investigations in
certain circumstances; and providing for the review by
the Disabled Persons Review Board of guardianship held
by public agencies.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Section 13-708 and 13-709(a) and (c)(5)

Annotated Code of Maryland

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
read(s) as follows:

Article - Estates and Trusts

13-708.

(a) The court may grant to a guardian of a person only

those powers necessary to provide for the demonstrated need
of the disabled person.
