offered by the University of Maryland, or any similar
institution of higher learning approved by this Board. In
addition, a licensed senior manager who can show
certification of employment of at least a two (2) year
period prior to date of application, who is a high school
graduate or equivalent, is 18 years of age, and has
completed the cosmetology teacher courses offered by the
University of Maryland or any like teacher program approved
by this Board, shall be eligible for examination.
(f) No person shall be permitted by the Board to take
an examination to receive a certificate as a cosmetician
unless the person is at least seventeen years of age, has an
eighth grade education or its equivalent, and has completed
a number of hours of instruction designated by the Board in
that practice in a beauty school duly registered by the
Board, or has served as an apprentice under the supervision
of a licensed cosmetician in an approved beauty shop for a
period of not less than six months. The holder of a special
certificate shall engage only in the limited practice of the
art of beauty culture authorized by the special certificate.
(g) No person shall be permitted by the Board to take
an examination to receive a certificate as a wig stylist
unless the person is at least seventeen years of age, has an
eighth grade education or its equivalent and has completed a
number of hours of instruction designated by the Board in
that practice in a beauty school duly registered by the
Board, or has served as a wig stylist in an approved beauty
shop for a period of not less than six months. The holder
of a special certificate shall engage only in the limited
practice of the art of beauty culture authorized by the
special certificate.
(i) No person shall be permitted to take an
examination to receive a certificate as an instructor of one
of the specialized courses of beauty culture provided in [§
536 (d)] § 485(D) of this subtitle unless said person is at
least eighteen years of age, a high school graduate or
equivalent, has been licensed pursuant to subsection (f) of
this section for at least two years, and has completed such
instruction as the Board shall require. Nothing in this
subsection shall prevent a person licensed as a senior
teacher under subsection (e) of this section from providing
instruction in one of the specialized courses provided in [§
536 (d)} § 485(D) of this subtitle.

No person shall engage in the sale or practice of
fitting hearing aids or display a sign or in any other way
advertise or hold himself out as a person who practices the
fitting of hearing aids unless he holds a current,
unsuspended, unrevoked certificate of registration issued by
the Board as provided in this subtitle, or unless he holds a
