appropriate services for certain mentally retarded
individuals regardless of the individuals living
arrangement; providing certain procedures for
evaluation of certain mentally retarded individuals;
providing that certain placements in community based
community-based residential and day activity placements
facilities be made under certain conditions within

certain time periods; to certain individuals;

clarifying the language; and generally relating to
community facilities and services for mentally retarded
and other developmentally disabled individuals.

(As enacted by Chapter ___(H.B. 200) of the

Acts of the General Assembly of 1982)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland

(as enacted by Chapter____ (H.B. 200) of the Acts of the

General Assembly of 1982) read(s) as follows:

Article — Health - General

7-102.

To advance the public interest, it is the policy of
this State:

(1)  To promote, protect, and preserve the human
dignity, constitutional rights and liberties, social
well-being, and general welfare of mentally retarded
individuals in this State;

(2)  To encourage the full development of the
ability and potential of each mentally retarded individual
in this State, no matter how severe the disability;

(3)  To promote the economic security, standard
of living, and meaningfull employment of mentally retarded
individuals;

(4)  To foster the integration of mentally
retarded individuals into the ordinary life of the
communities where these individuals live;
