AN ACT concerning

State Aid - Nonprofit Institutions

FOR the purpose of providing that altering the conditions
under which certain nonprofit, private institutions of
higher education shall be eligible for State aid under

certain conditions; and generally relating to

eligibility for State aid for higher education; and
providing for a delayed effective date.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
read(s) as follows:

Article - Education

17-103.

(b) To qualify for State aid under this subtitle, an
institution of higher education shall:

(1)  Be a nonprofit private college or
university, OR A FORMER BRANCH OR CENTER OF A NONPROFIT
PRIVATE COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY OR BE A NONPROFIT PRIVATE
INSTITUTION OF HIGHER EDUCATION THAT FORMERLY RECEIVED STATE
AID AS A COMPONENT OF A PRIVATE COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY that
was established in this State before July 1, 1970;

(2)  Be accredited APPROVED by the State Board
for Higher Education;

(3) BE ACCREDITED BY THE COMMISSION ON HIGHER
EDUCATION OF THE MIDDLE STATES ASSOCIATION OF COLLEGES AND
SCHOOLS;

(4) HAVE AWARDED THE ASSOCIATE OF ARTS OR

BACCALAUREATE DEGREES TO AT LEAST ONE GRADUATING CLASS;
