(II) PRACTICE MEDICINE OR RESIDE IN THIS
STATE AT THE TIME OF APPOINTMENT.
(4) THE ACUPUNCTURIST MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL
SHALL:
(I) BE REGISTERED TO PERFORM ACUPUNCTURE;
(II) HAVE ENGAGED REGULARLY IN THE
PRACTICE OF ACUPUNCTURE FOR AT LEAST 6 YEARS BEFORE
APPOINTMENT; AND
(III) PERFORM ACUPUNCTURE OR RESIDE IN
THIS STATE AT THE TIME OF APPOINTMENT.
(J) (I) A MEMBER OF THE COUNCIL:
(1) MAY NOT RECEIVE COMPENSATION; BUT
(2) IS ENTITLED TO REIMBURSEMENT FOR EXPENSES
UNDER THE STANDARD STATE TRAVEL REGULATIONS, AS PROVIDED IN
THE STATE BUDGET.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That: (1) The
Governor shall appoint the initial members of the
Acupuncture Advisory Council within 30 days following the
effective date of this Act, and shall fill each subsequent
vacancy within 30 days following the occurrence of such
vacancy; and (2) The initial acupuncturist members of the
Council shall be exempt from the requirement that they be
registered to perform acupuncture provided, however, that
they have completed satisfactorily a course of training in
acupuncture approved by the State Board for Higher Education
or comparable authority in another jurisdiction, or
providing a total of at least 800 hours of instruction over
not more than a 3 year period of which at least 200 hours
must be clinical experience, or obtained from another
jurisdiction a license, certificate, or other authorization
that he is qualified to perform acupuncture.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the
provisions of this Act that: (1) relate to registration
requirements and scope of practice of registered
acupuncturists, and (2) are to be codified as § 14-605(c),
and (e), and (f) of the Health Occupations Article, shall
take effect on January 1, 1983.
SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the
remaining provisions of this Act shall take effect July 1,
1982.
