CHAPTER 596

(House Bill 63)

AN ACT concerning

Pensions - Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center

FOR the purpose of providing certain retirement benefits
under the State Employees' Retirement System for
maximum security attendants at the Clifton T. Perkins
Hospital Center; and generally relating to retirement
benefits for maximum security attendants at the Clifton
T. Perkins Hospital Center.

Section 157

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1978 Replacement Volume and 1981 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
read(s) as follows:

Article 73B - Pensions

157.

(A) (1) NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF THIS
ARTICLE, A MAXIMUM SECURITY ATTENDANT AT CLIFTON T. PERKINS
HOSPITAL CENTER MAY RETIRE IF THE ATTENDANT HAS:

(I)  COMPLETED 20 YEARS OF CREDITABLE
SERVICE; AND

(II)  SERVED AS A MAXIMUM SECURITY
ATTENDANT FOR AT LEAST 5 OR A CORRECTIONAL OFFICER FOR AT
LEAST 20 YEARS IMMEDIATELY BEFORE RETIREMENT.

(2)  THE RETIREMENT ALLOWANCE SHALL BE EQUAL TO
1/55 OF THE AVERAGE FINAL COMPENSATION OF THE ATTENDANT
MULTIPLIED BY THE NUMBER OF YEARS OF SERVICE.

(3)  UNLESS ANNUAL EXTENSIONS ARE APPROVED BY THE
SECRETARY OF HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE, THE ATTENDANT SHALL
RETIRE AT THE AGE OF 60 62 YEARS.
