AN ACT concerning

Tuberculosis

FOR the purpose of extending certain prohibited acts and
penalties to any individual who is, whether voluntarily
or involuntarily, in a health facility for tuberculosis
treatment.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland

(as enacted by Chapter ____ (H.B. 200) of the Acts of the

General Assembly of 1982) read(s) as follows:

Article - Health - General

18-324.

(a)  A health officer may have an individual examined,
if the health officer knows or is notified in writing by a
physician that the individual:

(1)   Is suspected of having tuberculosis in a
communicable stage; and

(2)   In a public place, is exposing other
individuals to infection.

(b)   If, after the examination, the health officer
finds that the individual has tuberculosis in a communicable
stage, the health officer may order the individual to be
taken to an appropriate health facility until the condition
of the individual no longer endangers the community where
the individual lives.

facility under subsection (b) of this section, the
