hereunder shall be made as follows: One for two (2) years,
one for four (4) years, and one for six (6) years.
Vacancies shall be filled for the balance of the unexpired
terms in the same manner as the original appointments as
hereinbefore provided. Any one member of the medical board
shall have the authority to hear any issues referred to said
board, and the determination thereof by any two members
shall be deemed to be the determination thereof by the
board. The medical board shall have the power and authority
to make rules regulating its procedure, to contract for
laboratory work, to make necessary investigations of working
conditions; to provide for ordering and the conducting of
autopsies, to conduct hearings on medical questions, to
determine medical issues, and to perform such other
reasonable duties as the work of the board may require. The
functions of the board shall be as set forth elsewhere in
this article.

(b) The members of the medical board shall devote as
much of their time as may be required to perform the duties
and carry out the functions of the board as set forth in
this article. The chairman of the medical board and the two
associate members of the board shall receive an annual
salary as provided in the budget, and each member of the
board shall be entitled to the reasonable and necessary
traveling and other expenses incurred while actually engaged
in the performance of their duties.]

(C) THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION AND ELSEWHERE IN
THIS ARTICLE PROVIDING FOR THE CREATION OF THE MEDICAL BOARD
OF THE WORKMEN'S COMPENSATION COMMISSION AND RELATING TO ITS
FUNCTIONS ARE OF NO EFFECT AND MAY NOT BE ENFORCED AFTER
JUNE 1, 1983, AND THE TERMS OF OFFICE OF ALL BOARD MEMBERS
SHALL TERMINATE ON THAT DATE, NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER
PROVISION OF LAW.

27.

(A)(1) THE WORKMEN'S COMPENSATION COMMISSION SHALL
MAINTAIN AN ADVISORY LIST OF LICENSED PHYSICIANS WHO ARE IN

GOOD PROFESSIONAL STANDING, WHO ARE EXPERTS IN THE

DIAGNOSIS, CAUSATION, AND DEVELOPMENT OF INDUSTRIAL

DISEASES, AND WHO ARE WILLING TO PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL
ASSISTANCE TO THE WORKMEN'S COMPENSATION COMMISSION IN
MATTERS CONCERNING OCCUPATIONAL DISEASE CLAIMS.

(2) THE ADVISORY LIST SHALL CONTAIN THE

PHYSICIAN'S NAME, SPECIALTY, AND ANY OTHER INFORMATION THAT
IS ESSENTIAL TO THE WORKMEN'S COMPENSATION COMMISSION.

(B)(1) THE WORKMEN'S COMPENSATION COMMISSION SHALL
MAINTAIN THE ADVISORY LIST FROM NAMES OF WILLING PHYSICIANS
SUBMITTED TO IT BY THE DEANS OF THE MEDICAL DEPARTMENTS OF
THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND, THE JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY,
AND BY THE COUNCIL OF THE MEDICAL AND CHIRURGICAL FACULTY OF
MARYLAND.
