legislative review of State regulatory, [and] licensing, AND
OTHER GOVERNMENT activities. This review of executive
branch performance is consistent with other activities and
goals of the General Assembly, The purpose of this review
is to determine which [regulatory] functions are necessary
to serve the public interest and to make regulatory boards
AND OTHER GOVERNMENT ACTIVITIES accountable and responsive
to the public interest in carrying out these necessary
functions. The purpose of this subtitle is to ensure that
this periodic review of State regulatory, [and] licensing,
AND OTHER GOVERNMENT activities takes place by establishing
statutory deadlines for legislative evaluation and
legislative action.

485.

(A)   IN THIS SUBTITLE THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE
MEANINGS INDICATED.

(B)   [As used in this subtitle, "board"] "BOARD" means
any board, commission, committee, council, division, or
office THAT IS listed in § 486(A), (B), (C), AND (D) of this
subtitle.

(C)   "EVALUATION" MEANS THE PROCESS OF LEGISLATIVE
REVIEW OF BOARDS AND OTHER GOVERNMENT ACTIVITIES THAT ARE IS
ESTABLISHED BY § 487 OF THIS SUBTITLE.

(D)   "GOVERNMENT ACTIVITY" MEANS ANY UNIT, PROGRAM,
SERVICE, OR FUNCTION OF MARYLAND STATE GOVERNMENT THAT IS
DESIGNATED FOR EVALUATION UNDER § 487(E) § 486(E) OF THIS
SUBTITLE.

486.

(a) The following boards and related statutes and
regulations shall be evaluated by July 1, [1980;] 1990:

(1)  Board of Barber Examiners (Art. 43, § 311);

(2)  State Board of Cosmetologists (Art. 43, §
539);

(3)  State Athletic Commission (Art. 56, § 109);

(4)   [Board of Examining Moving Picture Machine
Operators (§ 11-3 of the Public Local Laws of Baltimore
City);

(5)  Maryland State Board of Censors (Art. 66A, §
3);

(6)] State Board of Waterworks and Waste
Systems Operators (§ 20-201 of the Health Occupations
Article);
