(D) (1) A PETITIONER WHO IS A PHYSICIAN, PSYCHOLOGIST,
HEALTH OFFICER, OR DESIGNEE OF A HEALTH OFFICER SHALL GIVE
THE PETITION TO A PEACE OFFICER.
(2) The peace officer shall explain to the
petitioner:
(i) The serious nature of the petition;
and
(ii) The meaning and content of the
petition.

(a) If the petitioner under part IV of this subtitle
is not a physician, a psychologist, a health officer or
designee of a health officer, or a peace officer, the
petitioner SHALL PRESENT THE PETITION TO THE [and the peace
officer to whom the petitioner gives the petition shall file
it with a] court for immediate review.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1982.

AN ACT concerning
Adoption and Guardianship
FOR the purpose of stating the intent of the General
Assembly regarding adoption and guardianship; providing
for guardianship; specifying certain persons whose
consent is required for an adoption or guardianship;
providing for the revocability and validity of consent;
providing for reinvolvement with a child by a parent
following a decree of guardianship under certain
circumstances; providing for adoption and guardianship
without parental consent under certain circumstances;
providing for notice of an adoption or guardianship to
certain persons; providing for counsel to certain
parties under certain circumstances; defining certain
terms; and generally relating to adoption and
guardianship.
