CHAPTER 476

(Senate Bill 566)

AN ACT concerning

Pretrial Release - Eligibility

FOR the purpose of providing that a person charged with any
of certain enumerated offenses committed while the
person is released on bail or recognizance for
committing another enumerated offense is ineligible to
be released on recognizance on the subsequent charge;
and providing that a person convicted of any of certain
enumerated offenses may not be released on recognizance
if the person is subsequently charged with another
enumerated offense within a certain time of the prior
conviction.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

Section 616 1/2(c)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1976 Replacement Volume and 1981 Supplement)

BY renumbering

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

Section 616 1/2 (d), (e), (f), and (g), respectively

to be Section (e), (f), (g), and (h), respectively

BY adding to

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section(s) 616 l/2(d) through (g),
respectively, of Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments, of the
Annotated Code of Maryland be renumbered to be Section(s)
616 1/2(e) through (h), respectively.
