SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1982.

(House Bill 1255)

AN ACT concerning

Education - Scholarships for Children of Law
Enforcement, Fire, and Rescue Personnel

FOR the purpose of providing for limits on the amount of
money to be awarded to part-time and increasing the
limit on the amount of money to be awarded to full-time
student recipients of a scholarship awarded by the
Maryland Scholarship Board for children of certain
firemen, rescue squad members, law enforcement
officers, or national guardsmen killed in the line of
duty.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Section 18-601

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1978 Volume and 1981 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
read(s) as follows:

Article - Education

18-601.

(a) In this section "child" means:

(1) Any child who is at least 16 years old and
under 24 of any of the following State or local public
safety personnel killed in the line of duty:

(i) A professional or volunteer fireman;

(ii) A volunteer member of a rescue squad;
