State Department of Economic and Community Development;

providing for certain penalties regarding false

statements; making this Act contingent upon the passage
or another Act; and generally relating to the Migratory
Worker Housing Facilities Program. establishing loan
procedures, provisions, and qualifications; specifying
that loans shall not be made unless certain State
approval is obtained; defining certain terms;
clarifying language; and generally relating to the
Maryland Housing Rehabilitation Program.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
read(s) as follows:

Article 41 - Governor - Executive and Administrative

Departments

257-O 257L.

(A) (1) IN THIS SECTION THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE
MEANINGS INDICATED.

(2) "MIGRATORY LABOR CAMP" MEANS ONE OR MORE
STRUCTURES, BUILDINGS, TENTS, BARRACKS, TRAILERS, VEHICLES,

MOBILE HOMES, CONVERTED BUILDINGS, AND UNCONVENTIONAL

ENCLOSURE OF LIVING SPACES, TOGETHER WITH THE LAND

APPERTAINING TO IT, ESTABLISHED, OPERATED, OR USED AS LIVING

QUARTERS FOR 4 OR MORE MIGRATORY WORKERS ENGAGED IN

AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING RELATED FOOD PROCESSING.

(3) "MIGRATORY WORKER" MEANS ANY PERSON FROM
WITHIN OR OUTSIDE THE STATE WHO PASSES SEASONALLY FROM ONE
PLACE TO ANOTHER FOR THE PURPOSE OF EMPLOYMENT, AND WHO IS
NOT A YEAR ROUND EMPLOYEE, AND WHO OCCUPIES LIVING QUARTERS
OTHER THAN HIS PERMANENT HOME DURING THE PERIOD OF THIS
WORK.

(4) "PROGRAM" MEANS THE MIGRATORY WORKER HOUSING
FACILITIES PROGRAM.

(5) "SECRETARY" MEANS THE SECRETARY OF THE

DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT.
