(j) (K) An approved automatic fire sprinkler system
may be installed in lieu of a smoke detection system when
approved by the Fire Prevention Commission. This option
shall not nullify any other requirements of the code nor be
construed as exempting any occupancy from such requirements
where clearly applicable under the text of the code.
(k) (L) Notwithstanding any other provisions of this
article, the provisions of this section shall apply in
Baltimore City. In the city, the city fire department shall
enforce these provisions and any appeals concerning these
provisions shall be made to the city fire board.
(1) (M) These provisions shall have no effect upon the
existing public local laws or regulations AS OF JULY 1, 1982
which require smoke detectors in occupancies with less than
ten dwelling units.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That chapter(s)
of the Acts of the General Assembly read(s) as follows:

[SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That except for
Section 12A(b) of this Act, the provisions of this Act do
not apply to any residential building including hotels,
apartments, and other multi-family dwellings constructed, or
under construction, prior to July 1, 1975.]
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1982.

Health - Bedding Laws - Pillows
FOR the purpose of exempting certain decorative pillows from
the bedding laws of this State, including certain
licensing requirements; defining a certain term by
excluding certain decorative pillows; and generally
relating to the manufacture and sale of certain
decorative pillows for certain purposes in this State.
