Washington County - Workmen's Compensation -
Volunteer Personnel
FOR the purpose of providing that certain volunteer
personnel in Washington County are considered workmen
for wages and engaged in extra hazardous activity
within the meaning of the Workmen's Compensation Law;
permitting the Washington County Commissioners and
individual volunteer groups in Washington County to
secure and pay for Workmen's Compensation for
individual volunteer groups; permitting the Washington
County Commissioners to limit the number of volunteer
personnel in a group who are eligible for Workmen's
Compensation, and generally relating to workmen's
compensation coverage for certain volunteer personnel
in Washington County.
FOR the purpose of providing that the Board of County
Commissioners of Washington County may provide for
coverage under the Workmen's Compensation Act of
members of volunteer fire companies and rescue squads.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article 101 - Workmen's Compensation

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
read(s) as follows:
Article 101 - Workmen's Compensation

(E) (1) IN WASHINGTON COUNTY, MEMBERS OF VOLUNTEER
FIRE AND RESCUE SQUADS WHILE ON DUTY ARE WORKMEN FOR WAGES
AND ARE ENGAGED IN EXTRA HAZARDOUS ACTIVITY WITHIN THE
MEANING OF THIS ARTICLE.
(2) THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
WASHINGTON COUNTY MAY SECURE AND MAY PAY FOR WORKMEN'S
COMPENSATION FOR MEMBERS OF VOLUNTEER FIRE AND RESCUE SQUADS
IN THE COUNTY.
