would include Baltimore City. However, a deputy
medical examiner never has been appointed for
Baltimore City, and an appointment is not
contemplated. In practice, the office of the
Chief Medical Examiner provides services to
Baltimore City.
In subsection (b)(1) of this section, the former
phrase "whenever ... the said Commission shall
deem it necessary ... to do so" is deleted as
unnecessary in light of the discretion inherent
in "may appoint".
In subsection (c) of this section, the defined
term "physician" is substituted for "licensed
doctor of medicine", to reflect that individuals
with degrees other than "doctor of medicine" are
licensed to practice medicine.

POWER TO DISAPPROVE OR MODIFY ANY DECISION OR DETERMINATION
THAT THE COMMISSION MAKES UNDER AUTHORITY SPECIFICALLY
DELEGATED BY LAW TO THE COMMISSION.
(B) STAFF, FUNCTIONS, AND FUNDS.
THE POWER OF THE SECRETARY TO TRANSFER BY RULE,
REGULATION, OR WRITTEN DIRECTIVE, ANY STAFF, FUNCTIONS, OR
FUNDS OF UNITS IN THE DEPARTMENT DOES NOT APPLY TO ANY
STAFF, FUNCTION, OR FUNDS OF THE COMMISSION.
