SUBTITLE 3. POSTMORTEM EXAMINERS COMMISSION.
5-301. DEFINITIONS.

(A)  IN GENERAL.

IN THIS SUBTITLE THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE MEANINGS
INDICATED.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language used as
the standard introductory language to a
definition section.

(B)  COMMISSION.

"COMMISSION" MEANS THE STATE POSTMORTEM EXAMINERS
COMMISSION.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language added
to avoid repetition of the full title "State
Postmortem Examiners Commission".

(C)  MEDICAL EXAMINER'S CASE.

"MEDICAL EXAMINER'S CASE" MEANS A DEATH THAT A MEDICAL
EXAMINER IS REQUIRED BY LAW TO INVESTIGATE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language added
to simplify reference to those deaths that a
medical examiner is required to investigate.

As to the enumeration of those deaths, see §
5-309 of this subtitle.

5-302. COMMISSION ESTABLISHED.

THERE IS A STATE POSTMORTEM EXAMINERS COMMISSION IN THE
DEPARTMENT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from the entire first
sentence and the first clause of the second
sentence of former Article 22, § 1.

It is set forth as a separate section for
emphasis.
