AFTER JUNE 30, 1982 ARE AS FOLLOWS:

(I) FOR 1 SANITARY COMMISSIONER, 2 YEARS
EXPIRING ON THE SECOND JANUARY 1 AFTER THE SINGLE COUNTY
DISTRICT IS CREATED.

(II) FOR 1 SANITARY COMMISSIONER, 4 YEARS
EXPIRING ON THE FOURTH JANUARY 1 AFTER THE SINGLE COUNTY
DISTRICT IS CREATED.

(III) FOR 1 SANITARY COMMISSIONER, 6 YEARS
EXPIRING ON THE SIXTH JANUARY 1 AFTER THE SINGLE COUNTY
DISTRICT IS CREATED.

(D)  VACANCIES.

(1) AT THE END OF A TERM, A SANITARY
COMMISSIONER IN A SINGLE COUNTY DISTRICT CONTINUES TO SERVE
UNTIL A SUCCESSOR IS APPOINTED AND QUALIFIES.

(2) A SANITARY COMMISSIONER IN A SINGLE COUNTY
DISTRICT WHO IS APPOINTED AFTER A TERM HAS BEGUN SERVES ONLY
FOR THE REST OF THE TERM AND UNTIL A SUCCESSOR IS APPOINTED
AND QUALIFIES.

(E)  APPOINTMENT OF SUCCESSORS.

AT LEAST 1 MONTH BEFORE THE TERM OF A SANITARY
COMMISSIONER IN A SINGLE COUNTY DISTRICT EXPIRES, THE
GOVERNING BODY OF THE MEMBER COUNTY SHALL APPOINT A
SUCCESSOR.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
from the second sentence and the first sentence
-- except the last clause of that sentence -- of
the first paragraph, the second and third
sentences and the first sentence -- except for
the last clause of that sentence -- of the second
paragraph, and the entire third paragraph of
former Article 43, § 649(a)(1), the second
paragraph and the second and third sentences and
the first sentence — except the last clause of
that sentence -- of the first paragraph of (2),
(2-1)(ii), (iv), and the second and third
sentences and the first sentence -- except the
last clause of that sentence -- of (i), the first
paragraph of (2-2), (2-3)(ii) and the second and
third sentences and the first sentence -- except
the last clause of that sentence — of (i) and
the first and second clauses of the first
sentence of (b).

The specific references to the terms of the
initial sanitary commissioners for Allegany,
Dorchester, Garrett, Kent, and Somerset counties
