4-216. DUTIES OF INSTITUTIONS.

THE ADMINISTRATIVE HEAD OF AN INSTITUTION SHALL RECORD
AND REPORT EACH BIRTH, DEATH, AND FETAL DEATH AND ALL
STATISTICAL INFORMATION REQUIRED BY THIS SUBTITLE, ABOUT THE
INMATES OR PATIENTS OF THE INSTITUTION. THE INFORMATION
SHALL BE OBTAINED FROM THE BEST POSSIBLE SOURCE AND
PRESENTED TO THE INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBLE FOR EXECUTION OF A
CERTIFICATE UNDER THIS SUBTITLE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section formerly appeared as
Article 43, § 23.

The reference to an "administrative head" of an
institution is substituted for " {p}ersons in
charge" of institutions, to standardize the
references to this type of position.

The only other changes are in style.

4-217. COPIES OF BIRTH, DEATH, FETAL DEATH, OR MARRIAGE
CERTIFICATES.

(A)  IN GENERAL.

EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN SUBSECTION (B) OF THIS SECTION,
THE SECRETARY SHALL PROVIDE, ON REQUEST, ANY PERSON
AUTHORIZED BY RULES AND REGULATIONS ADOPTED UNDER THIS
SUBTITLE WITH A CERTIFIED OR ABRIDGED COPY OF A BIRTH,
DEATH, OR FETAL DEATH CERTIFICATE REGISTERED UNDER THIS
SUBTITLE OR OF THE CERTIFICATE OF A MARRIAGE PERFORMED AFTER
JUNE 1, 1951.

(B)  LIMITATIONS AS TO BIRTH CERTIFICATES.

(1) A CERTIFIED OR ABRIDGED COPY OF A BIRTH
CERTIFICATE MAY BE ISSUED ONLY:

(I) ON ORDER OF A COURT OF COMPETENT
JURISDICTION;
