(III) FILE THE CERTIFICATE.

(2) THE ATTENDING PHYSICIAN SHALL PROVIDE OR
CONFIRM THE DATE OF BIRTH AND MEDICAL INFORMATION THAT ARE
REQUIRED ON THE CERTIFICATE.

(B)  BIRTH OUTSIDE INSTITUTION -- IN GENERAL.

WITHIN 72 HOURS AFTER A BIRTH OCCURS OUTSIDE AN
INSTITUTION, A CERTIFICATE OF BIRTH SHALL BE PREPARED, ON
THE FORM THAT THE SECRETARY PROVIDES, AND FILED BY ONE OF
THE FOLLOWING, IN THE INDICATED ORDER OF PRIORITY:

(1)  THE ATTENDING INDIVIDUAL.

(2)  IN THE ABSENCE OF AN ATTENDING INDIVIDUAL,
THE FATHER OR MOTHER.

(3)  IN THE ABSENCE OF THE FATHER AND THE
INABILITY OF THE MOTHER, THE INDIVIDUAL IN CHARGE OF THE
PREMISES WHERE THE BIRTH OCCURRED.

(C)  SAME --ON COMMON CARRIER.

IF A BIRTH OCCURS ON A COMMON CARRIER AND THE CHILD IS
REMOVED FROM THE CARRIER IN THIS STATE, THE INDIVIDUAL IN
CHARGE OR THE OWNER OF THE COMMON CARRIER OR A DESIGNEE
SHALL PREPARE, ON THE FORM THAT THE SECRETARY PROVIDES, AND
FILE A CERTIFICATE OF BIRTH WITHIN 72 HOURS AFTER THE CHILD
IS REMOVED FROM THE CARRIER.

Article 43, § 17(a).

Throughout this section, the references to "the
form that the Secretary provides" are added for
clarity.

In subsection (a)(1) of this section, the
reference to the "administrative head" of an
institution is substituted for "person in charge
of the institution", to standardize the
references in this article to this type of
position.

In subsection (b)(1) of this section, reference
to the "attending individual" is substituted for
the specific list of possible attendants, in
former Article 43, § 17(a)(2)(i) and (ii), for
brevity and for conformity to similar references
elsewhere in this article.

In subsection (c) of this section, reference to
"a designee" is added to conform to the similar
