AN ACT concerning
Merit System - Office of Tourist Development
FOR the purpose of including certain employees of the Office
of Tourist Development in the Merit System; providing
that an employee included in the Merit System under
this Act shall be given credit for prior years of
service for certain purposes; providing that an
employee included in the Merit System under this Act
may not receive a diminution in compensation; and
generally relating to the inclusion of certain
employees of the Office of Tourist Development in the
Merit System.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
read(s) as follows:
Article 64A - Merit System
9R.
(A) A CONTRACTUAL EMPLOYEE OF THE OFFICE OF TOURIST
DEVELOPMENT OF THE DIVISION OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE
DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WHO HAD 6
MONTHS CONTINUOUS FULL TIME SATISFACTORY SERVICE AS OF JULY
1, 1982 SHALL BE INCLUDED IN THE STATE MERIT SYSTEM WITHOUT
FURTHER EXAMINATION OR QUALIFICATION.
(B) AN EMPLOYEE INCLUDED IN THE STATE MERIT SYSTEM
UNDER THIS SECTION SHALL BE GIVEN CREDIT FOR THE YEARS OF
SERVICE RENDERED AS A CONTRACTUAL EMPLOYEE OF THE OFFICE OF
TOURIST DEVELOPMENT FOR THE PURPOSE OF ESTABLISHING
COMPENSATION RATES, INCLUDING INCREMENTS.
(C) AN EMPLOYEE WHO HAS BEEN INCLUDED IN THE STATE
MERIT SYSTEM UNDER THIS SECTION MAY NOT RECEIVE A DIMINUTION
IN COMPENSATION SOLELY BECAUSE OF THE INCLUSION.
