SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1982.

AN ACT concerning
Health - Hospitals and Related Institutions
FOR the purpose of defining two classes of hospitals for
certain licensing and regulation purposes based on
certain accreditation; providing that different
standards and regulations govern hospitals, including
psychiatric hospitals, according to those classes;
providing for regulation of certain accredited
hospitals by the Department of Health and Mental
Hygiene by complaint investigation; authorizing the
Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene to promulgate
rules and regulations concerning nonaccredited
hospitals or related institutions in certain areas;
providing certain administrative and judicial remedies
when hospitals violate regulations of the Department of
Health and Mental Hygiene or are found to be deficient
in response to complaint investigations; authorizing
the Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene to establish
licensure and renewal fees for hospitals and related
institutions by regulation; and specifying the period
of time for which a license for related institutions,
nonaccredited hospitals or certain accredited hospitals
is valid.
