AN ACT concerning

Nursing Homes - Ombudsman

FOR the purpose of authorizing the Director on Aging to seek
to resolve complaints concerning the operations of
related institutions; authorizing the Director on Aging
to delegate certain authority concerning investigation
and resolution of complaints concerning operations of
related institutions to directors of local offices on
aging who establish local ombudsman programs in
accordance with certain regulations; requiring that
certain regulations provide for certain standards,
procedures, and other elements of the ombudsman
program; and generally relating to ombudsman programs
concerning related institutions.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
read(s) as follows:

Article 70B - Office on Aging

5.

(a) (.1) The Director on Aging shall receive, [and]
investigate, AND SEEK TO RESOLVE complaints concerning the
operations of related institutions, as defined in § 556(d)
of Article 43, and he may, on his own motion, make on-site
visits to determine if these institutions are in compliance
with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
