SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
read(s) as follows:
Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings
2-309.
(1) (1) The Sheriff of Frederick County shall receive
a salary of [$17,500] $20,000. He shall appoint deputies as
necessary, at salaries of at least $2,400, and jail wardens
as necessary, at salaries of at least $1,320 each. The
Sheriff also may appoint additional temporary deputy
sheriffs as he deems necessary for the public safety, with
the approval of the Board of County Commissioners. The
County Commissioners shall allow reasonable compensation for
the temporary additional deputy sheriffs and the temporary
deputies may not serve longer than the occasion requires.
The County Commissioners may increase the salaries of the
Sheriff, his deputies, and other employees in accordance
With Article III, § 35 of the Constitution.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
may not be construed to extend or apply to the salary of the
Sheriff of Frederick County in office on the effective date
of this Act, but the provisions of this Act concerning the
salary of the Sheriff of Frederick County shall take effect
at the beginning of the next following term of office.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1982.

AN ACT concerning
St. Mary's County - Bond Issuance
FOR the purpose of providing that bonds or other evidences
of indebtedness issued by the County Commissioners of
St. Mary's County for the benefit of St. Mary's
Hospital of St. Mary's County may not be included in
computing the percentage limitation for certain
evidences of indebtedness by St. Mary's County.
