(n) The Sheriff of Harford County shall receive a
salary of [$25,000] $35,000. He shall appoint the number of
deputies at the compensation provided in the county budget.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
may not be construed to extend or apply to the salary of the
Sheriff of Harford County in office on the effective date of
this Act, but the provisions of this Act concerning the
salary of the Sheriff of Harford County shall take effect
at the beginning of the next following term of office.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1982.
