FOR the purpose of altering the annual compensation for the
judges of the Orphans' Court in Howard County;
clarifying language; and providing that this Act does
not affect the incumbents.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article - Estates and Trusts
Section 2-108(o)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1974 Volume and 1981 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
read(s) as follows:

Article - Estates and Trusts

2-108.

(o) Each judge of the court for Howard County shall
receive an annual compensation of [$3,000] $4,000 to be paid
monthly. The salary of the Chief Judge is [$3,500] $5,000.
Each judge shall also receive an expense allowance, in
addition, up to $50 per month, for personal expenses
incidental to [his] THE JUDGE'S duties, to be paid by the
treasurer of Howard County each month upon presentation of
an itemized voucher.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
may not be construed to extend or apply to the salary of the
Judges of the Orphans' Court of Howard County in office on
the effective date of this Act, but the provisions of this
Act concerning the salary of the Judges of the Orphans'
Court of Howard County shall take effect at the beginning of
the next following term of office.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1982.
