IN THIS SECTION, "ARMED FORCES" MEANS THE ARMED FORCES
OF THE UNITED STATES.

(B)  CLERKS OF COURT.

A CLERK OF COURT SHALL PROVIDE WITHOUT CHARGE:

(1)  A COPY OF ANY PAPER OR RECORD IN THE CLERK'S
OFFICE THAT IS REQUESTED BY A FORMER ARMED FORCES MEMBER, IN
PERSON, OR BY THE' UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT, IF THE COPY IS
TO BE USED IN CONNECTION WITH A CLAIM OF THE MEMBER AGAINST
THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT;

(2)  A COPY OF A MARRIAGE RECORD OF A FORMER
ARMED FORCES MEMBER THAT IS REQUESTED BY THE MEMBER; AND

(3)  ANY COPY OF A MARRIAGE RECORD OF A FORMER
ARMED FORCES MEMBER OR OF A SURVIVING SPOUSE OR CHILD OF THE
MEMBER THAT IS REQUESTED, IF THE COPY IS TO BE USED IN
CONNECTION WITH A CLAIM FOR A DEPENDENT OR BENEFICIARY OF
THE MEMBER.

(C)  DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE.

THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE SHALL
PROVIDE WITHOUT CHARGE:

(1)  A COPY OF A BIRTH CERTIFICATE OR MARRIAGE
RECORD OF A CURRENT OR FORMER ARMED FORCES MEMBER THAT IS
REQUESTED BY THE MEMBER; AND

(2)  ANY COPY OF A BIRTH OR DEATH CERTIFICATE OR
MARRIAGE RECORD OF A CURRENT OR FORMER ARMED FORCES MEMBER
OR OF A SURVIVING SPOUSE OR CHILD OF THE MEMBER THAT IS
REQUESTED, IF THE COPY IS TO BE USED IN CONNECTION WITH A
CLAIM FOR A DEPENDENT OR BENEFICIARY OF THE MEMBER.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Ch. ___, Acts of 1982, which enacted

the Health - General Article, also repealed
former Article 96 1/2, § 47 and enacted this new
section to incorporate, without substantive
change, the substance of former Article 17, § 3
and former Article 43, § 25(g), as that
subsection related to armed forces members.
