Economic Development Commission - Terms
FOR the purpose of altering the terms of office of the
members of the Frederick County Economic Development
Commission; providing for the initial appointments
under this Act; and clarifying language.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
The Public Local Laws of Frederick County
Section 2-2-67(3)
Article 11 - Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1979 Edition, supplemented to April, 1980, as amended)
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as
follows:
Article 11 - Frederick County
2-2-67.
An ordinance or resolution creating an economic
development commission shall include the following
provisions:
(3) [That the members of the commission shall
serve for two (2) years from the effective date of the
creation of the commission and are eligible for
reappointment;]
A. THAT EACH MEMBER SERVES FOR A TERM OF 3
YEARS. THE TERMS OF THE MEMBERS SHALL BE STAGGERED, AS
REQUIRED BY THE TERMS OF THE MEMBERS SERVING ON JULY 1,
1985.
B. [that] THAT they shall serve without
compensation but may be reimbursed for necessary travel and
other expenses incurred in the performance of their duties;
C. [that] THAT the commission shall select
from its own membership a chairman, vice chairman, and a
secretary-treasurer, who may not be the same person, to
serve a term of [one] 1 year and be eligible for reelection;
that a person may not hold the position of chairman for more
than [three (3)] 3 consecutive terms;
D. [that] THAT upon the death, disability,
resignation, or removal of any member of the commission, the
board of county commissioners shall appoint a person to
serve for the unexpired term;
