Charles County - Circuit Court - Law Clerks

FOR the purpose of altering the salary of law clerks of the
Circuit Court judges for Charles County; providing that
the amount of compensation shall be determined by the
County Commissioners after consultation with the
Circuit Court Administrative Judge; and providing that
the number of law clerks which may be appointed shall
be determined by the County Commissioners.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Section 24

Article 9 - Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1969 Edition and 1977 Supplement, as amended)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as
follows:

Article 9 - Charles County

24.

(A)  The resident [judge] JUDGES of the Circuit Court
of Charles County may appoint [a law clerk who shall receive
an annual compensation, which shall be fixed by the County
Commissioners after consultation with the resident judge,
not in excess of $8,500. This compensation shall be
provided for in the annual levy and paid as other expenses
and salaries are paid for the conduct of business of the
Circuit Court] LAW CLERKS.

(B)  THE NUMBER OF LAW CLERKS WHICH MAY BE APPOINTED
SHALL BE AS DETERMINED BY THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS.

(C)  THE AMOUNT OF COMPENSATION FOR LAW CLERKS SHALL BE
SET BY THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AFTER CONSULTATION WITH THE
CIRCUIT COURT ADMINISTRATIVE JUDGE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1981.
