Article 48A - Insurance Code
232.
All burial insurance benefits shall be paid in cash to
the beneficiary. No person engaged in the business of
burial insurance shall contract to pay or pay such insurance
or its benefits, or any part of either, to any official
MORTICIAN, funeral director, OR undertaker, or to any
designated MORTICIAN, funeral director, undertaker, funeral
directing or undertaking concern, or to any particular
tradesman or businessman.

(a) Every group health insurance policy or individual
policy or certificate delivered or issued for delivery in
this State or issued to a group which is incorporated or has
a main office located in this State, or covering persons who
reside or work within this State, which provides for
reimbursement for any service which is within the lawful
scope of practice of a [duly] licensed certified social
worker shall provide such benefit whether the service is
performed by a doctor of medicine or by a [duly] licensed
certified social worker who has had at least two years or
3,000 hours of post-masters supervised clinical social work
practice in a clinical program as established by the STATE
Board of Social Work Examiners if the insured or the person
covered by the policy was referred to the social worker by a
physician.

(a) In this section "certified nurse practitioner"
means a licensed registered nurse who has completed a nurse
practitioner program approved by the [Maryland] State Board
of Examiners of Nurses and who has passed a Board approved
examination.
470A.
All health insurance policies issued or delivered in
this State, which provide insurance against expenses
incurred for services which optometrists are licensed to
perform under the provisions of [Article 43] TITLE 10 OF THE
HEALTH OCCUPATIONS ARTICLE, shall obligate the insurer, in
accordance with the other provisions of said policies, to
insure such expenses when rendered by an optometrist.
