(B) SPECIFIC REPRESENTATIONS PROHIBITED.

UNLESS A PERSON IS CERTIFIED AS A REGISTERED SANITARIAN
UNDER THIS TITLE, THE PERSON MAY NOT USE THE TITLE
"REGISTERED SANITARIAN" OR THE INITIALS "R.S." AFTER THE
NAME OF THE PERSON.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from Art. 43, §
736(a).

Subsection (b) of this section is derived from
those specific elements of Art. 43, § 735 that
are not covered clearly by the general language
of subsection (a) of this section.

It is called to the attention of the General
Assembly that there is no statutory prohibition
against representing oneself as a sanitarian in
training without being certified as a sanitarian
in training.

PENALTIES.

A PERSON WHO VIOLATES ANY PROVISION OF § 17-401 OF THIS
SUBTITLE IS GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND ON CONVICTION IS
SUBJECT TO A FINE NOT EXCEEDING $100 OR IMPRISONMENT NOT
EXCEEDING 60 DAYS OR BOTH.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from Art. 43, §
736(b).

The phrase "who violates any provision of §
17-401 of this subtitle" is substituted for the
phrase "who violates the provisions of subsection
(a)" to clarify that the use of the title
"registered sanitarian" or the initials "R.S." by
a person who is not a registered sanitarian is a
misdemeanor.

SUBTITLE 5. SHORT TITLE; TERMINATION OF TITLE.

17-501. SHORT TITLE.

THIS TITLE MAY BE CITED AS THE "MARYLAND SANITARIAN

ACT".
