AN APPLICANT FOR CERTIFICATION AS A REGISTERED
SANITARIAN IS EXEMPT FROM THE EXAMINATION REQUIRED BY
SUBSECTION (A)(1) OF THIS SECTION IF THE APPLICANT:

(1)  HAS AT LEAST 12 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN
ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION THAT MEETS THE STANDARDS SET BY THE
BOARD; OR

(2)  IS A SANITARIAN IN TRAINING.

(C) WAIVER OF EXAMINATIONS.

THE BOARD MAY WAIVE ANY EXAMINATION REQUIREMENT UNDER
THIS SECTION IF THE BOARD CONSIDERS THE APPLICANT TO BE
RECOGNIZED AS OUTSTANDING IN THE FIELD OF ENVIRONMENTAL
SANITATION.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from the examination
requirements in Art. 43, § 727.

In subsection (b) of this section, the phrase
"that meets the standards set by the Board" is
substituted for the phrase "satisfactory to the
Board" to clarify the duty of the Board to set
standards.

17-307. RECIPROCAL WAIVER OF EXAMINATIONS.

(A)  IN GENERAL.

SUBJECT TO THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION, THE BOARD
MAY MAKE A RECIPROCAL AGREEMENT WITH ANY OTHER STATE TO
WAIVE ANY EXAMINATION REQUIREMENT OF THIS TITLE FOR AN
APPLICANT WHO IS CERTIFIED AS A REGISTERED SANITARIAN OR
SANITARIAN IN TRAINING IN THAT STATE.

(B)  CONDITIONS.

AN AGREEMENT MADE UNDER THIS SECTION MAY ALLOW THE
BOARD TO GRANT A WAIVER ONLY IF THE APPLICANT:

(1)  PAYS THE APPLICATION FEE REQUIRED BY §
17-303 OF THIS SUBTITLE; AND

(2)  PROVIDES ADEQUATE EVIDENCE THAT THE
APPLICANT:

(I)  MEETS THE QUALIFICATIONS OTHERWISE
REQUIRED BY THIS TITLE; AND

(II)  BECAME CERTIFIED IN THE OTHER STATE
AFTER PASSING IN THAT OR ANY OTHER STATE AN EXAMINATION THAT
IS SIMILAR TO THE EXAMINATION FOR WHICH THE APPLICANT IS
SEEKING THE WAIVER.
