THE MANNER OF ELECTION OF OFFICERS SHALL BE AS THE
BOARD DETERMINES.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsection (a) of this section is new
language derived without substantive change from
Art. 43, § 726(d)(1).

Subsection (b) of this section is standard
language added to this and corresponding sections
of other titles of this article to clarify the
manner of election for officers of the Board.

In subsection (a) of this section, the present
provision for a July election of officers is
deleted in light of the practice of the Board.

The last clause of the last sentence of present
Art. 43, § 726(d)(7), which requires the Board
secretary to be bonded, is deleted as unnecessary
since, in fact, all State employees and officers
are covered by a blanket bond.

17-204. QUORUM; MEETINGS; COMPENSATION; STAFF.

(A)  QUORUM.

FOUR MEMBERS OF THE BOARD ARE A QUORUM.

(B)  MEETINGS.

(1)  THE BOARD SHALL MEET AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR,
AT THE TIMES AND PLACES THAT THE BOARD DETERMINES.

(2)  SPECIAL MEETINGS OF THE BOARD SHALL BE
CALLED BY THE BOARD SECRETARY AT:

(I)  THE WRITTEN REQUEST OF TWO BOARD
MEMBERS OR TEN REGISTERED SANITARIANS; OR

(II)  THE DIRECTION OF THE SECRETARY OF
HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE.

(C)  COMPENSATION AND REIMBURSEMENT FOR EXPENSES.
A MEMBER OF THE BOARD:

(1)  MAY NOT RECEIVE COMPENSATION; BUT

(2)  IS ENTITLED TO REIMBURSEMENT FOR EXPENSES
UNDER THE STANDARD STATE TRAVEL REGULATIONS, AS PROVIDED IN
THE STATE BUDGET.

(D)  STAFF.

THE BOARD MAY EMPLOY A STAFF IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
STATE BUDGET.
