PROCLAMATIONS
MARYLAND, AS DIRECTED BY ARTICLE I, SECTION 2, CLAUSE 4
OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,
AND UNDER THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME BY VIRTUE OF
ARTICLE 33, SECTION 22-1 OF THE ANNOTATED CODE OF
MARYLAND, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM AND DIRECT THAT A SPECIAL
PRIMARY ELECTION BE HELD ON APRIL 7, 1981, AND A
SPECIAL ELECTION BE HELD ON MAY 19, 1981, TO FILL THE
VACANCY IN THE REPRESENTATION OF FIFTH CONGRESSIONAL
DISTRICT OF THE STATE OF MARYLAND IN THE 97TH CONGRESS
BY REASON OF THE ADOPTION OF HOUSE RESOLUTION 80 BY THE
UNITED STATES HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES ON FEBRUARY 24,
1981.
AND I FURTHER DIRECT That the State , Administrator of
Election Laws shall immediately notify the Boards of
Supervisors of Elections in the Fifth Congressional
District of this Proclamation and shall forward a copy
of the Proclamation to each of said Boards;
AND I FURTHER DIRECT That the Boards of Supervisors of
Election in the Fifth Congressional District shall
conduct the special primary election and special
election in accordance with Article 33, Section 22-1 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland, as well as other
applicable laws, and the instructions of the State
Administrator of Election Laws issued pursuant thereto.
