PROCLAMATIONS
agreement between the Commonwealth of Virginia and the
State of Maryland, creating a Chesapeake Bay Commission
to effectuate the Bistate Agreement on the Chesapeake
Bay; and
WHEREAS, I approved and signed Chapter 576 and Chapter 674
on May 20, 1980; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 576 and Chapter 674 provide;
"That this Act may not take effect until a
similar Act is passed by the Commonwealth of
Virginia; that the Commonwealth of Virginia is
requested to concur in this Act of the General
Assembly of Maryland by the passage of a similar
Act; and that upon that event the Governor of the
state of Maryland shall issue a proclamation
declaring this Act valid and effective"; and
WHEREAS, By Chapter 662 of the Acts of Assembly of 1980,
the General Assembly of Virginia did adopt a similar
Act thereby concurring with Chapter 576 and Chapter 674
of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland 1980;
and
WHEREAS, The Honorable John N. Dalton, Governor of
Virginia, on April 4, 1980, signed the aforementioned
Act;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, HARRY HUGHES, GOVERNOR OF MARYLAND,
PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME BY THE
PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 576 AND CHAPTER 674 OF THE ACTS
OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND OF 1980, HEREBY
PROCLAIM THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 576 AND CHAPTER 674
OF THE ACTS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND 1980,
AS CODIFIED IN THE NATURAL RESOURCES ARTICLE, SECTION
8-302 OF THE ANNOTATED CODE OF MARYLAND (1974 VOLUME
AND 1979 CUMULATIVE SUPPLEMENT), TO BE VALID AND
EFFECTIVE.
PROCLAMATION OF SEPTEMBER 30, 1980
DECLARATION OF EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, An indepth inspection of the bridge carrying U.S.
Route 1 on the Conowingo Dam at the Susquehanna River
has revealed severe deterioration of said bridge; and
WHEREAS, The severe deterioration precludes rehabilitation
and has required limitation of truck traffic; and
