VETOES

(VII) IN BALTIMORE CITY A FEE NOT TO
EXCEED $5 FOR THE CERTIFIED MAILING OF STATEMENTS AND
NOTICES.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1981.

May 19, 1981
The Honorable Benjamin L. Cardin
Speaker of the House of Delegates
State House
Annapolis, Maryland 21404

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, today I have vetoed House Bill 770.

This bill eliminates the requirement in Baltimore City
that tax sale property be posted with a sign before the
property is advertised for sale. It also allows the City to
collect from the proceeds of a tax sale a fee for the
mailing of statements and notices.

Senate Bill 501, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on May 19, 1981, accomplishes the
same purpose.

Therefore it is unnecessary for me to sign House Bill
770.

Sincerely,
Harry Hughes
Governor

House Bill No. 828

AN ACT concerning

Civil Contempt - Nonsupport Limitations

FOR the purpose of establishing a certain period of time
after an arrearage has occurred within which civil
contempt proceedings must be filed for nonsupport of a
spouse or children.
